This morning we announced via joint press release that NimbleGen has entered into a license agreement with Affymetrix that provides NimbleGen with rights to commercialize products covered by Affymetrix intellectual property in the research field on a worldwide basis.
This is a major milestone in NimbleGen’s evolution as a company and part of a significant expansion of our commercial strategy. The actions we are taking will dramatically increase the ability of scientists to utilize our products and services. Over the coming months we will announce additional strategic initiatives and put in place the necessary infrastructure to enable the sale, use, and support of NimbleGen microarrays by scientists anywhere in the world.
During the coming year we will also
- continue to expand the information content provided on our platform (with 2 million feature arrays available in the first quarter of 2007 and 4 million feature arrays by the third quarter),
- provide new multiplex analytical opportunities that offer significant cost savings,
- introduce a variety of new methods enabling high-quality, cost-effective measurement of variation in genome structure, function, and activity not currently addressable on a genome-wide basis, and
- launch a range of complementary instruments, consumable products, and software that will help scientists get the most out of microarray experiments.
NimbleGen’s vision for the future is to offer a suite of products for integrated analysis of many measures of genomic variation, enabling a new era of High-Definition GenomicsSM.
