MADISON,
WI--December 3, 2004--NimbleGen Systems Inc., producer of custom
high-density DNA microarrays using proprietary Maskless Array
Synthesis (MAS) technology, announces the name change of its Germany-based
chemistry R&D subsidiary, Chemogenix GmbH, to NimbleGen Systems
GmbH.
NimbleGen acquired Chemogenix in 2001 to strengthen their patent
and technology portfolio surrounding the in situ synthesis of
DNA microarrays. Chemogenix GmbH, formed in 2000 around technology
developed under the leadership of Dr. Wolfgang Pfleiderer, generates
technology that helps improve NimbleGen's core array technology
and enables new high-end product development.
"This
name change reflects the fact that while NimbleGen may be comprised
of several legal entities, we are all operating as one company
under a common name, regardless of whether we are located in the
US, Germany, Iceland or elsewhere," said Dr. Stan Rose, President
and CEO of NimbleGen. "It is our hope that this change will
further strengthen the NimbleGen brand in Europe, and that our
European customers will recognize that we have a prominent local
presence."
