MADISON,
WI - April 23, 2004 - NimbleGen Systems, Inc., producer of custom
high-density DNA microarrays using proprietary Maskless Array
Synthesis (MAS) technology, announced the appointment of Dr. Harold
(Skip) Garner to the company's scientific advisory board.
Dr. Garner
is a founder of Light Biology, Inc., recently acquired by NimbleGen
Systems. Light Biology, a startup biotechnology company based
on technology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
Center at Dallas, used technology based on Digital Optical Chemistry
(DOC), which was invented by Dr. Garner.

merging of technologies in Light Biology and NimbleGen enables
NimbleGen to accelerate what it can do for the biomedical researcher.
I am very excited to join NimbleGen's Scientific Advisory Board
and hope to continue to make contributions which help us all meet
our goals," said Dr. Garner.
Dr. Garner
has over 15 years experience in the biotech arena and is currently
a professor of biochemistry and internal medicine at UT Southwestern.
He holds the P. O'B. Montgomery, M.D., Distinguished Chair, is
a member of the McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development
(Human Genetics Center) and a founding member of the Center for
Biomedical Inventions (CBI). In addition, Dr. Garner initiated
the UTSW microarray core facility and serves on numerous government
committees and as a reviewer for many scientific journals. Dr.
Garner received his BS in Nuclear Engineering at the University
of Missouri - Rolla and a Ph.D. in plasma/high temperature matter
physics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1982. He
also holds an honorary professional engineering degree.
