Summary:
Due to growth, Roche NimbleGen, Inc. has a full-time position available for a Product Application Trainer. The primary focus of this position will be to lead and present product application workshops to customers and internal employees on a diverse microarray platforms, kits, and equipment.
This position requires up to 75% travel to customer laboratories, and also includes training customers and internal staff in the Roche NimbleGen Training facility. Additional responsibilities include supporting to the global Technical Support Training staff and customers on workshop related inquiries, assistance with the development of workshops, planning and preparation of workshop supplies, administrative duties and other microarray product support projects as assigned. Support will be provided via telephone, written correspondences (email), electronic media and laboratory work with a goal to meet customer expectations while achieving business needs. This role will also provide feedback to other areas of the company as needed, based on information received from the field.
Essential Duties Include:
- Lead and present customer workshops and training programs on Roche NimbleGen product applications and platforms. (Initial focus will be on the newly launched products). Workshops and training programs take place in the customer laboratories or in the Roche NimbleGen Training laboratory.
- Ability to adjust the training course as needed to ensure customers effectively understand the course materials and the workshop is meeting their needs/expectations.
- Travel to customer sites to train customers to effectively use Roche NimbleGen products and applications in their laboratories. Up to 75% travel (domestic and international) is expected.
- Assist with the development of the workshop programs and take a proactive approach to improving existing workshop programs as needed to meet customer requirements. Collect and analyze training evaluation forms for training and make recommendations or changes as needed. This includes the presentation materials, workshop organization and follow-up with customers.
- Prepare, qualify and track reagents used in the workshops.
- Follow-up with customers after the conclusion of the workshop to ensure customer has all the necessary information to run successful microarray applications in their labs.
- Help schedule, assemble, and run webinar programs for internal staff, global support teams, and customers.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry or related life science area.
- Minimum two years lab experience and solid understanding of core applications in molecular biology or related. Knowledge of microarray technology and applications is preferred.
- Ability to discuss basic fundamentals of experimental design, techniques and results in a clear and concise manner.
- Technical competency with the ability to stay current in technical knowledge and to troubleshoot reagent or equipment problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills; including proven presentation skills and ability to listen effectively, communicate accurately and professionally, in conversation or in writing (telephone discussions, email, presentations).
- Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook and the internet. Experience with bioinformatics data analysis software preferred.
- Ability to work in an environment with multiple short term deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Ability to contribute high quality work to projects while effectively prioritizing workload and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision as well as proven team participation skills.
- Customer service skills with a dedication to customer support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with microarrays with the ability to discuss and troubleshoot microarray design, sample processing and data analysis.
- Prior experience with conducting technical trainings and demonstrations and proven effective presentation skills.
