Job Summary:

Roche NimbleGen, Inc., part of Roche Diagnostics is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our fast paced rapidly growing organization in Madison, WI. This position requires a person with a strong background in statistical methodology, algorithms development, data analysis, and software development. This role is part of our innovative, growing Research and Development department.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the development of new algorithms and software for leading-edge oligonucleotide microarray products.
  • Assist in the planning and design of experiments.
  • Perform data analysis to support R&D scientists.
  • Prepare analysis summaries and reports for internal and external use.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Masters in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology (or Biology related degree with relevant bioinformatics experience).
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as S-Plus or R.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3+ years Java programming experience.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • At least 2 years experience working in the bioinformatics field or degree in molecular biology, genetics or related field.
  • 2+ years programming experience in C/C++.
  • 2+ years programming experience in Perl or Python.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Database development skills.
